What’s happening in 2016? CFC reports.

Now that 2015 has come and gone, we are focusing our attention on the year ahead. Analysts predict 2016 will be a strong year for the industry and will bring increased demand and booming business. Here are some of the trends and events to look out for this year.

  1. The Cape Construction Trade Expo is coming!

This event is geared towards the entire construction value chain, from pre-construction, construction and post-construction phases of the construction cycle, to make sure everyone who attends leaves with added knowledge, new valuable contacts and inspirational business ideas they can take into their area of expertise.

The event has over 100 exhibitors and you’ll get to learn about state of the art construction technologies and developments, share ideas and interact with service suppliers and experts on hand.

You’ll meet key decision makers; architects, designers, engineers, building contractors, commercial and residential property owners and developers, cost consultants, project managers, suppliers, service providers, government representatives and investors in the construction industry. No matter what day you attend you’ll leave with fresh new ideas and stronger referral contacts. Always a good thing!

The event runs over 3 days and will be held from the 10th to the 12th of August at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

3 trends to watch out for in the construction industry:

  1. Prefab/offsite construction methods will become more popular

Also known as modular or prefabricated, this form of construction has been gaining ground as an alternative building method that offers the benefits of reduced construction time, less waste and possible cost savings. Watch out for more of these developments taking place around the city of Cape Town.

  1. Laser scanning technology is catching up

Laser scanning is fast becoming a reality. Using a 3-D laser, scanners can create a digital reproduction of the exact dimensions and positions of objects in a certain space, and then turn that information into a point cloud image. A great tool, which can enhance project flow and cost transparency.

  1. Safety is always on trend

CFC knows that safety is paramount when working in the building sector. This is something we were reminded of recently when we heard of the 26 deaths and over 50 people who were injured in height and scaffolding incidents in China over the New Year. Since then the Chinese Government has ordered that construction companies need to tighten their health and safety procedures and avoid injuries due to violations and negligence. If companies don’t respond, they could potentially lose their licenses. It again brings to the forefront the importance of worksite safety when working within our industry. We are incredibly proud of our healthy and safety methods.

These are just a few key trends kicking off 2016. CFC is committed to being one of the leading scaffolding companies in Cape Town and will be keeping a close watch on the city’s urban landscape.
